Keeping Patients and Staff Safe During Covid-19

Before Your Procedure

  • Using a no-contact thermometer, patients’ temperatures are taken upon entry to our lobby.
  • They fill out Covid-19 screening & consent forms, which are recommended by the American Dental Association and distributed in dental offices throughout the country.
  • Patients wear a face mask until they are isolated inside of a dental room, ready for their procedure.
  • They are then directed by our dental assistant to prepare their teeth with antibacterial products prior to meeting with Dr. Racean. This consists of brushing the teeth for 3 minutes with Perio Protect Gel, which shields the body from infection, and using a hydrogen peroxide rinse.

These procedures protect patients and ensure that everyone that comes through our office is symptom-free, while taking extra steps to disinfect the mouth before being seated in a dental chair.

During Your Visit

Dr. Racean and all office staff members wear face masks, and Dr. Racean wears a face shield as well. Both the Dr. and dental assistant wear layers of clothing that are worn only in the dental office underneath disposable lab coats which are newly taken from the office daily and also only worn within the office. Additionally, the Dr. and dental assistant wear disposable gloves which are changed between patients.

We have recently purchased and installed new equipment for our office specifically for sanitation purposes in light of the Covid-19 outbreak. These new additions include:

  • the SaniLight UVC lights in both of our dental rooms’ ceilings. These lights sanitize all surfaces of dental rooms. They are turned on for a length of 15 minutes immediately following each patient’s visit.
  • We also have IQ Air Health Pro Series air purifiers in each dental room. These machines filter the air while patients are having their procedures done.

Office Cleanliness

Besides operating the sanitizing equipment already mentioned, office staff does everything they can to keep the office as sanitary as possible:

  • Office floors are vacuumed daily, and sanitizing spray is dispersed through the office regularly throughout the day.
  • Surfaces and handles on doors are wiped down regularly as well.
  • Plastic Coverings are placed on chairs and changes between patients.
  • Our dental assistant thoroughly places dental tools in sanitizing machinery between each and every patient and seals them until Dr. Racean is ready to use them on the patient.
